So I was thinking that David and I could save a lot of money by becoming vegetarians (haven’t done it yet), but then I went grocery shopping this morning. PET-brand milk at Wal-Mart was $5.98 a gallon.
$5.98!
The generic was $3.40, but my gosh, what is happening to food prices, people? Whew.
Anyhow, vegetarians still drink milk, so becoming a vegan may be the best way to go to keep your wallet nicely padded. We’ll see…

Yikes! That’s so expensive.
I don’t really understand “brand name” milk, anyway. Brand name cows? They’re all the same to me. lol

If you’re considering vegan, I sure hope you like legumes and spinach! It’s about the only protein source you’ll get. I tried it once, and I did lose weight and save money, but I had nooooooooooo energy. Not good if you like to work out (and I know you do.) Just try not to get caught in the “all bread” vegan trap. I know too many people who think they’re going vegan to be healthier, and end up eating all junk.

Hey girl!! Eric and I don’t really consider ourselves vegetarian but that is pretty much all we eat. We have turkey for lunch…but that isn’t really that expensive, depending on what kind of meat you get. For dinners, we eat a LOT of vegtables and casseroles and that sort of thing. We usually only have meat once a week, sometimes twice. It has helped us keep our grocery bill to $50 a week! I think thats pretty good considering its 3 meals a day for about 6 days! Its great too if you can make a 13×9 casserole and then freeze half of it or use the other half for dinner another night later in the week! Go for it…you’ll be surprised how much money you save AND the yummy recipies youll get to try!!
